280 m²
IN A NEW MULTIFUNCTIONAL SHELL
The previous version of the exhibition covered the period from 1897 (the meeting at the Slavyansky Bazaar) to 1943 (the death of Vladimir I. Nemirovich-Danchenko and the opening of the School-Studio). Its core principle and navigation were based on historical chronology. The exhibition featured an extensive archival collection: historical documents, photographs, set and costume sketches, scale models of productions, props, fragments of scenery, and memorial items. Wave-shaped glass showcases defined the general direction of visitor movement within the exhibition.
The previous architectural solution could be described as total and continuous, not allowing for pauses or focus at any given point, which made it difficult to move freely or arrange visitors comfortably within the space—particularly during group tours.
The fluid transitions between showcases and the abundance of open-type exhibits complicated the perception and visual comprehension of the material. There was a clear need for a more structured layout and display approach, as well as for a more comfortable navigation system.
